Menopause stage indicator
Know your stage — not just your symptoms.
Menopause arrives around age 51 on average — earlier or later depending on genetics, lifestyle, and health. The Ovul device and app monitor the dynamics of your estrogen levels daily, so you can manage symptoms, plan your lifestyle, and get timely medical support.
The test kit
How do menopause test kits work?
Most at-home hormone testing devices work by analyzing urine, similar to ovulation or pregnancy tests. Ovul relies on a small saliva sample — allowing you to effortlessly test multiple times per day. Ovul does not require any additional test strips or consumables.
Split — open the device
Open the device and wait for the indicator light to flash once.
Drop — apply a saliva sample
Place a drop of saliva onto the analyzer slide.
Check — AI results in app
Close the device to start the analysis. Your results will be sent to the Ovul App.
The procedure takes a few minutes. To ensure the most accurate results, it is recommended to do a test prior to eating or drinking or wait a minimum of 20 minutes after. You want the saliva to be free of contaminants.
Until recently, determining the stage of menopause required multiple blood draws. Now, thanks to modern technology and a simple questionnaire, you can do it right at home.
The Menopause Stage Indicator test is two-fold. One part is based on the analysis of certain hormone levels, in particular estrogen, which plays a key role in the menstrual cycle and changes depending on the different menopause stages. The second is based on a Climacteric Scale health questionnaire.
The Ovul kit includes a saliva testing device + app, detailed instructions, and access to the in-app menopause stage calculator. The in-app on-boarding questionnaire will help Ovul determine your current physical state. The Ovul device and App will help you monitor your dynamic, daily estrogen trends.
*The test is not recommended for women using hormonal contraceptives or with hormonal disorders, as the results may be distorted.

5 stages of menopause
Menopause is not a sign of old age. It is the beginning of a mature journey with new opportunities and priorities. You should understand what are the 5 stages of menopause to better navigate the changes you are experiencing and maintain your health.
Stage 1: Perimenopause
- irregular cycle;
- spotting between periods;
- pain in the breasts;
- hot flashes;
- increased sweating;
- insomnia;
- more frequent calf cramps;
- problems with urination;
- dry mucous membranes;
- more frequent headaches;
- sexual dysfunction;
- unexplained weight gain.
Stage 2: Early Menopause Transition
- hot flashes may occur for several days (especially before or during menstruation) when estrogen levels drop;
- slight weight gain associated with hormonal changes;
- insomnia, interrupted sleep, especially in the case of nighttime hot flashes.
Stage 3: Late Menopause Transition
The duration of perimenopause varies from 2 to 8 years. In most women, it lasts about four years.
Stage 4: Menopause
In severe cases, it is necessary to consult a doctor. A specialist will draw up a stages of menopause chart, help you choose effective support, and rule out other possible causes of poor health.
Stage 5: Postmenopause
- Heart and blood vessels. Estrogen used to protect them. When its levels decrease, the risk of cardiovascular disease increases.
- Bones. The loss of estrogen is one of the causes of bone density loss, which can lead to osteoporosis and increased fragility.
- The genitourinary system. The vaginal mucosa becomes thinner. This can cause pain during intercourse, dryness, and infections.
- Mood swings. Hormonal fluctuations contribute to the development of anxiety, depression, and emotional instability.
